A COURSE ON PROFESSIONAL FIRE AND SMOKE RESTORATION ____________________________________________________________ Each TDI CE course gives you (agent/adjuster) 3 hours of CE credit toward the renewal of your license every other year.
Course Instructor: Dave Reimer--over 15 years in the Cleaning and Restoration industry. In-house and Certified IICRC instructor for the last 10 years. Course Topics:
Introduction 15 minutes • Welcome • Review of the course and goals for the class Knowledge and experience required to do fire work 10 minutes Safety and Health of Workers and Occupants 20 minutes • Proper PPE, respirators, carcinogens, chemical usage Property values: real, sentimental, antique 10 minutes
Odor elimination 35 minutes • Source removal • Real odors vs. psychological odors • Protein fires • Methods to eliminate odors—masking agents, pairing agents, disinfectants, fogging, ozone sealing, least aggressive to most aggressive methods
BREAK
Soot—product of incomplete combustion 30 minutes • Options: clean, resurface, replace Heat line and damage related to it What happens in minutes, hours, days to structure and contents
Cleaning methods: 30 minutes • Dry vacuuming, feather dusters, dry cleaning, wet cleaning, porous vs. non-porous surfaces, top-to-bottom, HVAC systems.
On-location jobs vs. packouts 20 minutes
Course Evaluation and closing 10 Minutes
